spacerWorkshops & Classes

Margot Schulzke, PSA, PSWC-DP; DPS, KA is a highly regarded and much sought-after teacher. Her approach is individualized, good-humored and supportive. Encouraging workshop participants to think and work independently, she emphasizes the “whys,” not just the “hows.” She keeps workshop sizes relatively small (15-18 max) to allow as much one-on-one as possible with each student, encouraging them to identify and develop their own intuitive, natural style.
Workshop students comments: "All your positive feedback in your workshop the whole week was such a great experience. Your talk the last few hours on Friday on building confidence and how to carry on with painting when you’re not in a workshop was inspiring. It was a new experience, since I've been in classes where the teacher and class did nothing but tear the paintings to pieces. ...You have made design much easier to understand." ..."It was everything I expected and more. ... "The reality exceeded my rather myopic expectations. Your workshop embraced many levels of skill and experience -- with the surprise bonus that the students functioned as integral parts of the didactic flow." ..."I've attended many workshops, but this is the first one where I really learned something."

WorkshopShe has taught painting for some forty years and holds a BA degree in art education. This solid foundation, coupled with her long experience in art instruction, is evident in her highly effective teaching methods.

Composition and design are a major focus in all of her workshops. Next workshop is in Sacramento at the Sacramento Fine Arts Center, October 16-18, 2008. See below. May of 2009 will find her returning to the Sierras at Pollock Pines. And for several years, Margot has given annual five-day workshops in the Sierra Nevada, and next year, October 2009, we will return to Hope Valley, CA, twenty miles south of Tahoe, where we had a spectacular experience in October 2007.
